How Do Celebrities Get White Teeth?

You are not alone if you have ever stopped to wonder how every celebrity has a perfect smile. Not everyone is born with flawless pearly whites, so how did all these stars hit the brightest smile lottery?

While it may not be possible for you to wear coveted designer dresses and fly all around the world, a gorgeous smile is one celebrity trademark you can easily rock. So, how do celebrities do it?

Read on as I discuss various ways celebrities get white teeth and how you can get them too.

Veneers

If a celebrity smile suddenly looks different, but you cannot precisely nail what changed, I can bet you they got veneers.

Veneers are a quick fix for a gleaming smile that tackles cracks, discoloration, gaps, and chips all in one go. They are thin custom-made shells to fit your teeth. You can choose to get veneers for one tooth or revamp your entire smile. Almost all celebrities have veneers these days as they are a sure-shot way to get pearly teeth.

Veneers can be popularly made from either a resin composite material or dental porcelain – both materials have unique characteristics. Porcelain veneers require a lengthier customization process and tooth preparation for the resin composite. However, they also last longer – a good ten to twenty years if properly taken care of.

Resin-composite veneers have quick fabrication, so it’s a faster treatment. Since minimal tooth prep is required for composites, you can also have them reversed if you want. Whereas their porcelain counterparts are considered more permanent thus, they are also twice as expensive. Keep in mind though the porcelain veneers also need to be replaced eventually.

In-Office Teeth Whitening

Another celebrity favorite for a beautiful smile is in-office teeth whitening. Yes, it is more executive than several at-home whitening methods (which we will discuss further down the article), but the results are much more satisfying with even whitening that can last you months.

An in-office whitening treatment usually takes about an hour, where your dentist will apply a whitening product like bleaching gel to your teeth and then expose them to a light source. After the session, your teeth are visibly whiter.

While in-office teeth whitening needs to be repeated, the exact number of yearly visits depends on your teeth’ health. One benefit of in-office teeth whitening procedures is that the dentist can curate the treatment to fit your needs exalt since it is a more controlled environment. For example, they can choose to alter the strength of the whitening gel according to teeth discoloration. Especially for people with sensitive teeth, a tailored in-office whitening treatment is necessary.

Teeth Whitening Strips and Gels

While veneers and in-office whitening treatments are comparatively a more permanent solution for discolored teeth, some at-home treatments can help you flaunt celeb-like white teeth.

Teeth whitening strips and gels are readily available in-store and are extremely easy to use. With regular use, you can have a smile that is several shades lighter – just the boost of confidence you need. Usually, OTC whitening gels and strips need to be used regularly for two weeks; however, you can see visibly brighter teeth within a few days. Depending on the teeth staining, the results can last you for a few months.

Teeth whitening strips come coated with whitening gel and are usually recommended to use twice a day for thirty minutes. On the other hand, whitening gels typically require direct application to teeth with a brush.

For both whitening products, check the label and usage instructions.

Teeth Whitening Trays

Tray-based whiteners are another simple way to get a celeb-like smile. While in-office treatments are more effective, a bright smile needs upkeep, and teeth whitening trays fit the bill.

The great thing about teeth whitening trays is that you can use the whitening gel and customized guard made by your dentist. In this way, the guard fits you perfectly and makes for better cleaning rather than a generically shaped guard you can get over-the-counter. Moreover, loose-fit trays allow the bleaching gel to contact the gums, thereby becoming irritating. So, you want to be careful about that.

The whitening trays typically need to be used for a couple of weeks for a few hours every day for maximum results; however, that heavily depends on discoloration and staining.

Whitening Rinses

Whitening rinses contain a small amount of hydrogen peroxide that can help achieve a brighter smile. However, this product is not as effective as some other more potent whitening treatments mentioned above. Whitening rinses are significantly less effective because you can only swish them around your mouth (usually for 60 seconds). Hence, teeth contact is minimal in comparison. Moreover, any actual whitening results can take up to three months.

However, rinses as whitening agents do prove effective in whitening maintenance after other more powerful treatments. On their own, whitening rinses provide anything but dramatic results, so they should be used as more a means of maintaining a bright smile.

Whitening Toothpaste

Another means of teeth whitening is whitening toothpaste. They contain varying abrasives and chemical agents that help with stain removal. However, do not expect professional whitening-like results. Whitening toothpaste with just abrasives is good to remove surface stains, whereas those with chemical agents can also work on internal staining. However, the degree of whitening depends on the toothpaste formulation.

Whitening toothpaste on its own can result in up to one shade lighter teeth, only with long-term use. However, be careful if you are sensitive to any of the ingredients.

Good Oral Hygiene

I mean, this goes without saying, but all the whitening treatments in the world cannot help you get the smile of your dreams if you lack basic oral hygiene. For any whitening treatment to work, ensure that you follow dental hygiene guidelines of regular flossing and twice-a-day brushing.

Good oral hygiene ensures that your teeth are in a healthy state to qualify for potent cleaning procedures. Moreover, regular brushing and flossing also help prolong the effects of other whitening treatments.

Bonus Tip: Using a Straw

No, seriously! Hear me out! Using straw for liquids that may stain your pearly whites otherwise (think coffee and soda) is a great little hack to minimize contact.

And, that’s all there is to it! Now, you know all the secrets behind all your favorite celebrities’ coveted smiles. All you have to do is follow my tips and flaunt your brightest smile yet.
